The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified candidate to work as a Grant and Contract Administrator in the Corporate Office in Menands, New York. The Grant and Contract Administrator will be responsible for the preparation, review and submission of grant applications, as well as the negotiation and administration of various research agreements and other activities, in support of RFMH activities. 

Responsibilities:

The duties of the Grant and Contract Administrator will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Serve as a point of contact for investigators and administrators on matters related to sponsored program administration, including regulatory compliance of grants and contracts.
  • Advise Principal Investigators and administrators on proposal development, including guidance on funding agency regulations and requirements, particularly for SAMHSA and NIH grants and New York State contracts.
  • Submit grant proposals in Grants.Gov, eRA Commons, other systems and invention reporting in iEdison.
  • Draft, negotiate and administer subcontracts, independent contractor, confidentiality, material transfer and other contractual instruments with domestic and foreign sub-recipients and vendors.
  • Analyze terms, conditions and budgets of prime agreements and negotiate with contractors where appropriate.
  • Work with contractors to ensure performance goals are met and approve invoices for payment.
  • Facilitate communications between patent attorneys, inventors and administrators during the application and prosecution of patents. Maintain invention disclosures and create reports.
  • Interpret federal and regulations and laws and help ensure RFMH compliance with these laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including participation on committees and working groups for the enhancement and/or development of new processes and technologies.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree and four years of direct relevant experience in the field of research administration
  • Experience with the use of Grants.Gov and eRA Commons, experience with Oracle preferred
  • Must have strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to work independently in a high volume, fast paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Solid organizational skills and the ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of professional staff, including scientists, physicians and attorneys
  • Capacity to exercise discretion to resolve ambiguity and promote effective solutions
