The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a highly-motivated project manager for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position working to support implementation of a nationally recognized suicide prevention demonstration project in Onondaga County, NY.

 

FUNCTION AND SCOPE

The New York State Suicide Prevention Office team recently received a $3.5M, 5-year Zero Suicide grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). NYS was the only state to be awarded this first-time federal grant. The incumbent will be trained in the Zero Suicide model and will join a strong clinical and research team whose collective task is the implementation of suicide safer care within and across health systems in NYS. The incumbent will provide local Zero Suicide implementation support to Onondaga County's participating providers in a number of healthcare settings, including hospital-based inpatient mental health and emergency rooms, and outpatient mental health, substance use, and primary care clinics aimed at developing the nation's first Regional Zero Suicide Safety Net.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

We are seeking a passionate and ambitious colleague, who possesses excellent leadership, writing, presentation, and group facilitation skills, has keen attention to detail, and works well within a multidisciplinary team. Except where otherwise noted**, applicants must possess a minimum of a master's degree with at least 5 years' work experience in healthcare or healthcare administration with project management experience.

 

Preferred candidates may possess one of the following:

  1. **A Bachelor's degree in nursing and associated license (RN) with at least 7 years' experience in behavioral health, including some experience as a clinical nurse manager.
  2. A Master's in public health (MPH) with at least 5 years of post-graduate experience, including involvement in at least one significant health system quality improvement project.
  3. A Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Family Therapy with associated licensure and with at least 5 years' experience;
  4. Licensed Psychologist (PhD/PsyD) with at least 3 years' experience.  

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:  

  1. Engaging, coordinating, and supporting health and behavioral health systems in the adoption of the Zero Suicide model, including assistance with kick-off leadership summit, provider planning meetings, implementation learning collaboratives, use of quality and fidelity checks, and adoption of sustainability measures
  2. Providing baseline and ongoing assessment of policies, procedures and work flow supporting suicide safer care
  3. Providing technical assistance and support to health systems committed to Zero Suicide implementation
  4. Coordinating data collection from providers related to grant participation and evaluating fidelity and impact of Zero Suicide implementation efforts
  5. Coordinating and supporting cross-system alignment around implementation of suicide safer care
  6. Executing strategic plans developed by grant leadership team and steering committee
  7. Other duties directed by the OMH Suicide Prevention Office
