POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Opioid Overdose Training Coordinator
Salary Grade 21: ($66,007 - $84,517)

 

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking one (1) qualified candidate to fill the position of Opioid Overdose Outreach Training Coordinator to assist in the opioid overdose prevention effort as part of the State Opioid Response (SOR) initiative at the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS).  The initiative is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and is designed to address the opioid crisis in New York State.  The OASAS implementation approach is to fund providers that are part of a regional network that will use an array of evidence-based prevention, treatment, and recovery services to combat the opioid crisis.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with Opioid Overdose Outreach Training Specialist to promote community trainings.
  • Work with Opioid Overdose Outreach Training Specialist to schedule community trainings and work with Peer Engagement Specialists, Family Navigators, and Recovery Centers to ensure that these resources are familiar with all available trainings.
  • With the Opioid Overdose Training Specialist, work collaboratively with stakeholders, including Opioid Overdose Prevention Programs (OOPPs), to address regional network collaboration and resource sharing to increase access to Naloxone and Opioid Overdose Prevention training.
  • Will work collaboratively with the Opioid Overdose Outreach Training Specialist to deliver Opioid Overdose Prevention trainings throughout New York State.
  • Ensure that all materials and naloxone kits are prepared and available for all trainings.
  • Ensure that rooms are set up appropriately, including materials and resources, sign-in sheets, and appropriate mechanism to verify attendance for credentialing training hours.
  • Collect data in a timely manner as required by New York State Department of Health.
  • Prepare various reports regarding the initiative's activities.
  • Extensive and frequent travel throughout New York State is required including overnights.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of professional experience in the field of substance use disorder, health, or mental health.  A Master's degree can be substituted for one year of professional experience. A Ph.D. can substitute for two years of professional experience.

Preferred Experience:

Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in public health, public administration, sociology, psychology or related field.  Experience working in culturally diverse communities and bilingual (English and Spanish) are assets.  Other qualifications include strong writing, oral communication, and presentation skills; ability to work cooperatively with diverse stakeholders; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment with changing needs and priorities; and proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Access, Word, and PowerPoint.  Candidates must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter.
