The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the full-time position of Healthcare Data Analyst to be headquartered at the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) in Albany, NY. The candidate will work in conjunction with OMH staff to maintain and query data marts containing NYS Medicaid data that is integrated with multiple related data sources.

FUNCTION AND SCOPE

The Healthcare Data Analyst must be able to work effectively with business matter experts to construct queries that will accurately answer business questions and fulfill on-going data analysis needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college in Accounting, Computer Science, Data Analysis, Statistics, Economics, Business, Social Science, or Healthcare is preferred.
  • Data analysis experience using relational databases.
    • SQL and PL/SQL experience in a VLDB environment is a plus
  • Experience with the NYS DOH Data Warehouse is preferred
    • Familiarity with Health Care and/or OMH-specific data sources is a plus
  • Experience with the following:
    • Data Analysis tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Hyperion, Excel), SQL*Plus, SPSS, SAS, TOAD
    • Relational Database Normalization/Structure. Experience with Data Modeling Software is a plus
    • Additional programming experience is a plus, and experience with Data Mining tools is a plus
    • Proficiency in Excel is highly preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting on multiple data sets for a wide variety of customers.
  2. Work with the OMH Bureau of Financial Planning, other OMH bureaus, and other State agencies on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment.
  3. Communicate clearly with business subject matter experts to determine needs and requirements, and to develop these into technical specifications and actionable data.
  4. Provide technical assistance to other data analysts to help complete projects.
  5. Work effectively with multiple teams, combining leadership and mentoring skills with technical expertise.

Salary: Based on education and experience.
